Waiting On Wednesday

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine where we feature the books we're waiting for!

MEEP! Look at that frickin' awesome cover! I think I may have died and gone to heaven. The title is perfect. Days of Blood and Starlight, sequel to Daughter of Smoke and Bone. Perfect.
It's no secret that I adored Daughter of Smoke and Bone. Adored it, read it five times, drew every character in my notebooks, secretly wrote fan fiction that I later hid because I have a tiny problem with bringing fan fiction out into the light. If you haven't read this book, go read it. You'll get karmic points for loving it, I promise.

Days of Blood and Starlight. Say it out, real poetic.

Days of Blood and Starlight. More Karou and Akiva and Zuzana. More wishes and worlds and wings and wonder. More of Laini Taylor's absolutely gorgeous writing. Ah, sigh of bliss.

BLURB THING as found on GOODREADS

In this stunning sequel to the highly acclaimed "Daughter of Smoke and Bone," Karou must come to terms with who and what she is, and how far she'll go to avenge her people. Filled with heartbreak and beauty, mysteries and secrets, new characters and old favorites, Days of Blood and Starlight brings the richness, color and intensity of the first book to a brand new canvas.

And what's more fuel to my craziness than this awesome quote (again found on Goodreads):

“Once upon a time, an angel and a devil fell in love and dared to imagine a new way of living—one without massacres and torn throats and bonfires of the fallen, without revenants or bastard armies or children ripped from their mothers’ arms to take their turn in the killing and dying.
Once, the lovers lay entwined in the moon’s secret temple and dreamed of a world that was a like a jewel-box without a jewel—a paradise waiting for them to find it and fill it with their happiness.
This was not that world.”

  2. I'm ashamed to say I still haven't read Daughter of Smoke & Bone. I really want to! Just haven't had a chance yet. Thanks for stopping by! New follower

  3. I still need to read Daughter of Smoke and Bone, but I have to say that I LOVE this cover. I really liked the first on too, but I gravitate to this one since it's red and that's my favourite colour haha -- totally a shallow, superficial reason, but I'm ok with that for now. I'm hoping to read book 1 soon since I hear such great things.

    Great pick!

    1. You're not shallow at all! I love red, and I love red and blue in combination even more, and most things I photoshop are these two colors. So I don't blame ya. Get to reading DSB, you'll love it!

  4. I love how well this cover compliments Smoke and Bone! I have a copy of the first book but haven't read it yet - and I have no idea where it is right now. I hope I can find it before Blood and Starlight is released!

  5. Yes yes and yes! The cover is prettier than the last one, if that's even possible :) I love how Laini Taylor writes and names her books, because Days of Blood & Starlight is just so... poetic, lyrical, amazing? I tried saying it out, it even sounds great out of my mouth :O

A great pick that I can't wait for either! Here's my WoW!

  6. I'm so excited for this book! I bet the cover will be different in the UK, which will suck, because I love this one - and our hardcover cover for the UK edition was rubbish last time!

    1. Can't suck any worse than the Indian version. It has one of the worst covers I've ever seen.

  15. Hey, Varsha! How are you? I know I haven't come by in a long time...I'll try to rectify that situation! Your blog headers, I have to tell you, are the most beautiful I've ever seen on the blogosphere! As are the rest of your graphics! Anyway, I noticed what you were featuring on your WOW, and just HAD to comment. This is a GREAT pick! I've read "Daughter of Smoke and Bone", and am waiting on this one, too!!! YAY!!! This cover is just as awesome as the first one, although I do prefer the color blue in the first one. However, this one is absolutely stunning!! Gotta get the book as soon as it comes out!! Thanks for featuring it!! <3

    1. Hi, Maria! Yep, it's been a while hasn't it :D thanks for stopping by and that header is complete serendipity, you wouldn't believe it. I threw together some stuff and it came out this way, and it ended up looking better than the original version I'd sketched :D I loved the first cover too, but I guess I'm just as inclined to red as you are to blue :) Can't wait for this, huh?!

  17. So, many people have suggested to me that I read Daughter of Smoke and Bone, however I have yet to read it. Now, you say you have read it five times, Oh my! Thats a hefty thing to say! Thats like a 6 start rating on a 1-5 star scale! I think you may have finally swayed my decision to read the first one! Especially now that I know there is a sequel! Im a sucker for sequels!!!

    Awesome post!
